Hannover Messe: Stormshield discusses the future of Industry 4.0
04 04 2017
Stormshield, a European leader in the cyber security market, will present its collaborative and proactive approach to security and how it adapts to Industry 4.0 changes at Hannover Messe in Germany (24-28 April). On its stand, Stormshield will showcase the SNi40, a Stormshield Network Security (SNS) device specifically designed to protect industrial facilities, and its Stormshield Endpoint Security (SES) solution for protecting production workstations.
Preparing for Industry 4.0
Stormshield will argue that agility and responsiveness are essential to keeping up with changes in the industrial market. In the era of Industry 4.0, the factory of the future has morphed into a connected, intelligent, and autonomous facility. Thanks to the Internet and advanced communication networks, production methods have evolved, opening the factory up to new, innovative services. However, this openness – which sees more and more data flowing between sites, employees, tools and production workstations or operator consoles – will inevitably create new risks that industrial companies need to prepare for now.
Companies need to adopt a proactive approach. They have to put systems in place to prevent cyber attacks that could result in halting production or stealing sensitive data.
Stormshield protects the industrial environment in its entirety
The OT and IT protection solutions provided by Stormshield fit into the trends of Industry 4.0. They offer industrial enterprises a comprehensive, proactive protection solution, allowing them to calmly transition to Industry 4.0.
The SNi40 solution developed by Stormshield protects networks and integrates industrial protocols and constraints. This device offers DPI detection and filtering functions for the different protocols used in these environments (modbus, S7, DNP3, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, or IEC 104). Designed to meet the technical specificities of this sector, it is resistant to the same electromagnetic and thermal stresses as industrial PLCs (-40 +70°C).
Equipment uptime is paramount which is why Stormshield will also present SES, its Endpoint Security solution. This has been designed for production workstations to eliminate the need for signatures or updates, and proactively secure all operational stations: monitoring consoles, controllers, or PCs.
Stormshield will run several demos on the stand to show what happens during an attack in an increasingly exposed industrial environment and how to deal with it. These real-life scenarios will simulate an attack on both the network and endpoint elements of an industrial assembly line.
